The director of Xinjin Elementary had the idea to make a promotional video using this music video as inspiration.
The plan was to have the English teachers from Syuejia and Xinjin take the role of the guy walking in the video and as they go along they describe what is taught in the Mobile English Village program. They also meet with some people along the way.
After meeting in Xinjin we headed out to a very scenic road surrounded by rice fields slightly outside the city itself (actually I have no idea how far out, but not in the center of course).
The lineup for the video was…
- Mike – initial introduction of the program.
- Benjamin – asking for directions, introducing the English van and the baseball curriculum
- Peter – local culture and local holidays
- Gilkey – food culture and close
Along the way they would meet different people. I met with a local farmer (played by Ariel) who handed me a milkfish.
For post-production we went back to the school to rerecord the audio.
I was very impressed by the speed in which this project was done. It reminds me of the MVP approach to product development. We went straight out, did a dry run, then two takes and then we were back in school.
Can’t wait to see the final video.
